Bridge Results – By The Numbers…

1/01/19 – 1/27/2019

January bridge results and ACBL tournament stats continue to post strong numbers for the third week.   As we head into the final week of the month, get in your tournaments and boards – there is still plenty of time.  On a separate note, look for a new release this week for OKlive, our latest online bridge game!

Bridge Results – ACBL Masterpoint Tournaments

17,835 pairs competed in 322 ACBL Masterpoint tournaments playing 3,228 boards so far this month.  How does this measure up?  Most noteworthy is 16,484 pairs in 269 ACBL Masterpoint Tournaments (minis) while 1,351 pairs competed in 53 combo tournaments.     Check out our daily tournament schedule on the OKbridge web site or your OKbridge members portal.

Bridge Results – ACBL Leaderboards

Cathycat added to their lead this week with 59.29 putting distance between the rest of the top 10. Grand43 continues to hold on to the second spot at 51.21 but the pack is tight with only five masterpoints separating the next four players.  Likewise, Danb moved into 3rd position putting pressure on Grand43 within a single masterpoint of second position with Euposso, Ondrwyzr, Phyllisq, Shen1, Seadoo, Aries, and Hahaha48 rounding out the Top 10. Both Danb and Seadoo jumped two positions this week showing that there is still lots of opportunity heading into the final week.  Consequently, with the points gained and a tight spread between the 2nd and 6th placements, this week is sure to be full of surprises.

Visit the ACBL leaderboards in the OKbridge members portal for a complete list including last month,  year to date, and more.

Tournament Satisfaction

ACBL tournament satisfaction for the month dropped to a disappointing 61% with Noodle still at 100% satisfaction, Knife a close second at 83% and Merley and Canooz at 70%.    We received a number of tourney surveys with low scores but no tournament director info.  Not sure why there were incomplete surveys with such poor ratings but we are working to identify any areas of improvement.  We appreciate receiving your survey results – keep them coming and please make sure to include as much information as possible.

Bridge Results – Player Performance Rating

OKbridge is the only bridge game with a comprehensive player rating system called Lehman Ratings.  Rated tables (competitive) are factored into a Lehman Player Rating.  Consequently, unrated (social) tables have no impact on the Lehman Player Rating.

Go to the FAQs (Lehman Rating System) in the OKbridge members portal for more information on our player rating system and how it is calculated.

Bridge Results – Table Crash Stats

277 tables ‘crashed’ (table servers closed table or player left table during game play) to date in January. 14 players ranked ‘high’ to ‘extreme’ abuse registering 165 boards crashed where they were the offending party closing the table (as the table server) during game play.  This is an increase of 100% from the previous week.  Consequently, these 14 players comprise 60% of the total table crashes during this period.  We are always concerned with this stat and especially so with the large increase this past week.

Please notify the table in advance and always finish a board before closing the table or leaving your seat.  It is never acceptable to intentionally close or leave a table during the game play.

Crashed tables:  277

Skipped tables:  260

Score requests:  115

Bridge Score Requests and Score Reviews

We received and adjudicated 115 score requests (pending boards).

If you are a victim of a ‘crashed’ table (resulting in a pending board), please go to  Pending Boards in the OKbridge members portal and request a score.  There is a process including an escalation to a certified director to review the pending board and score the board as if it had been played to completion.  This is a great opportunity to get redress but there is a limited time-frame to request a review (72 hours).

12 score reviews on completed boards have been received and adjudicated to date.  If you played a board to completion but would like the score reviewed, please go to your Completed Boards in the OKbridge members portal and submit your request.  There is an automated process with escalation to a certified director to review the board as needed.  Similar to the process for uncompleted (pending) boards, there is a limited time to request a review of 72 hours.

Finally, there are no pending board review requests outstanding as of 1/27.
